the National Dance Education Organization Mr. Evans participates
in a pre-conference workshop in Future
Paths in Tap and shares two choreographic works in a pre-conference Tap
Showcase. He then teaches a master class in Evans Modern Dance Technique; participates in a panel discussion on Future
Paths in Tap; co-presents a session on The
Restorative Powers of Art Making; and performs a solo in the annual
NDEO Concert. On Friday
evening, October 7, he will receive the NDEO Lifetime Achievement Award

Evans’ New Mexico Tap Dance Jams Mr. Evans appears as
founding artistic director, choreographer and guest performer in shows
coordinated by Jackie Church Oliver and Wendy Leverenz Barker and
co-sponsored by NDI—New Mexico and the UNM Department of Theatre and
Dance. Master classes will
take place on the morning of May 18 at UNM.

Concert Mr. Evans will
choreograph and perform for this event, part of the R.I.T. 2005 – 2006
Performing Artists Concert Series “COLLABORATIONS” Mr. Evans will be
artistic director of this program of new collaborative work by SUNY
Brockport dance faculty and guest artists.
Mr. Evans will give the first performance of a new suite of rhythm
tap dances in collaboration with pianist Mark Olivieri.

invited to appear in this event, which will bring distinguished alumni and
former dance faculty to UNM to celebrate Professor Judith
Chazin-Bennahum’s retirement from the Department of Modern Dance. Annual May Intensive Mr. Evans teaches this
annual workshop, including courses in Evans Modern Dance Technique and
applied kinesiology, and choreographs a new modern dance work for advanced
professional program students. The
residency will culminate with a solo performance by Bill Evans on the
evening of June 3.

Participants will be asked to arrive on the afternoon of Sunday, July 2. An orientation session will take place on Sunday evening. The workshop will conclude on Saturday, July 8, at 5:00 p.m. Faculty:

Evans Dance Technique Teaching Certification Program We
are anticipating up to five openings for experienced professional modern
dance teachers in 2006. To
become certified, participants must participate in five-day intensive
certification workshops (plus six-day Bill Evans Teachers’ Intensives)
for four consecutive summers, and complete individual interim projects
under Mr. Evans’ guidance. Faculty
include Bill Evans, Don Halquist and Debra Knapp.

Centrum’s Bill Evans Dance Intensive The
Centrum/Bill Evans Dance Intensive is a leading international training
program for contemporary dance teachers.
Teaching methods and materials encourage students to become
well-rounded and healthier dancers and human beings.
The learning environment generates trust, self-esteem, peer support
and physical, mental and spiritual regeneration.
In 2006, Centrum will once again provide more spacious studios, and
Mr. Evans and his collaborators will present a six-day workshop with
special tracks for: · Established Dance Teachers · Younger Teachers and Emerging Professionals · Advanced Younger Dancers TheStudents make quantum leaps of understanding and embodiment and develop relationships with peers that provide networks of support throughout the year.
